Inspired by his speech, the townspeople quickly make their tax payment - except for Mr. Kwon, the richest man in town. Ashamed of his father's ignorance, his son Hak Ryul decides he will make the payment himself without telling his father. But suspecting foul play, the father tails after the son and ends up witnessing his own son's accidental death. In repentance, he donates all of his wealth to the government.
